LUDMILA TCHAIKOVSKAYA

 First concertmaster of the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony orchestra (Artistic and General Director—Valery Gergiev), Honoured Artist of Russia gives Violin Masterclass at Rachmaninov Academy

​Lyudmila Tchaikovskaya, a Honored Artist of Russia, leader of the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, led by star conductor Valery Gergiev.

 

Lyudmila Tchaikovsky was born in Riga. Since childhood, she showed a perfect pitch and began to study violin at the Special Music School at the Latvian Conservatory in Riga. Lyudmila won the Violin competition in Latvia.

 

After graduating from the Conservatory in Riga, she enters the aspirantura of the Leningrad Conservatory, in the class of the legendary professor A. Fisher. At the same time he becomes to work in the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

After graduating from the Leningrad Conservatory, Lyudmila works in the orchestra of the Latvian SSR with conductor Vassily Sinaisky, and then wins the competition for the first violins of the Mariinsky Theater, where he becomes the concertmaster of the orchestra.

 

Several years ago Lyudmila was awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of Russia".

As a soloist, she performed with the such a famous orchestras as the Moscow Conservatory, the Kyiv Philharmonic, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Radio Orchestra, the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra of Russia.

As a concertmaster of the Mariinsky Thetre Symphony orchestra, she recorded with maestro Valery Gergiev a series of DVDs - “Sleeping Beauty”, “Firebird”, etc.

 

She recorded on DVD - Concerto No. 1 for Violin and Orchestra by P. Tchaikovsky, A. Tchaikovsky's Double Concert "Far-away Dreams of Childhood".
